Year End and New Year!

Stanwich Rocks 5th and 6th grade Sunday School teaching team is watching December blaze past us with many of you performing in Joy Story, Christmas Eve choir and sharing yourselves with your friends in class. Thank YOU! We have enjoyed every minute of it!

We are in new series of Gospel Light and this unit is based on Isaiah 9:6-7.

"For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this."

Lesson 1...we discovered the reasons a Savior is needed and how John the Baptist prepared the way for the Lord...JESUS provides the only way to solve the problem of sin.

Lesson 2 helped us understand how Jesus gives us more than we expect and we compared what we expect from Jesus with what He came to give us.

Lesson 3...we reflected on Jesus as the Prince of Peace...the peace Jesus brings is available to everyone!

Next Sunday (January 4th) we will be studying Lesson 4 where we will be going deeper in discussion on how Jesus is our provider and protector.

For the morning classes...don't forget your assignments this week! Bless you and we look forward to seeing what God is doing through you in this week.

For the evensong class...Carl is back this week! You are always a joy and we can't wait to hear how God is moving in your lives. Bless you and for those who are out of town...we miss you!

Be safe and we will see you in the new year!

YOU! YOU! YOU!

Stanwich Rocks 5th and 6th grade Sunday School teaching team is so proud of you!! It is a busy time with the choir rehearsals, Sunday school and keeping up with all of your family and friends. October was a month of shedding leaves and the beginning of dying to the old so that we can make room for new growth. We have been seeing that process in you as well. As your teachers you have brought us great joy with your funny personalities, quiet ways and moments of speaking beautiful truth. We pray that as we head into November and December that we will grow closer as a church family and take time to show each other how important and loved you are...just the way you are. Please know that if you ever need to walk and talk...our doors and hearts are always open. Remember: Love! Love! Love!... and BRING IT wherever you go and to whomever God puts before you. BLESS YOU this week and we look forward to seeing you Sunday!

Coming Up....The Wisest Fool

Stanwich Rocks 5th and 6th grade Sunday School teaching team loves its 5th and 6th graders! As you know we are studying Proverbs 3:3-6. Over the last 3 weeks this verse has come alive in our discussions about the secret to success, abigails wisdom and blessed for success. This week we will be discussing the wisest fool.

Proverbs 3:3-6..."Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways aknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

Quick review:
WEEK 1 - secret to success - becoming a person after God's own heart is the only true succes.
WEEK 2 - abigails wisdom - if our hearts are humbly grateful like Abigail's was, we will first seek God's wisdom, which God promises to give to those who ask and trust Him;
WEEK 3 - blessed for success - understanding that we are promised by the same God that gave Solomon great wisdom that He will answer our honest prayers for wisdom if we will trust Him to answer us. That is the good news...we have access to the same wisdom Solomon did b/c God does not change.

Bless you with a great end of the week and we look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Welcome

Hey 5th and 6th graders and parents,
The purpose of this blog is to keep you all informed and up-to-date "what cool things are happening in your Stanwich Church Sunday School".
I cannot wait to see you all back from summer vacation. We have awesome teachers for you this year, and awesome helpers too. There will be sunday School during all 3 services. All 3 will be the same, but it is always the best to stick with the same class, then you get to know your teachers well.
Btw, this is my very first blog EVER!!!! So now I will publish it and see what it looks like! In the future, it will be most of the time one of the teachers who will be posting blogs because they know the best what is going on.
